Artist Walter Cartategui was born in Uruguay, South America. For the last 45 years, he has lived in the United States of America and is proud to be a citizen of this country. He attended and graduated from White Plains High School in New York. He then went on to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, where he studied art. Walter served this country with the Elite Army's 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era. He received an honorable discharge when his term of service was complete and worked as a welder and pipe fitter until his recent retirement. For the past 30 years, Walter has been a resident of Nassau County, Florida where he exhibits his work at the Amelia Island Art Association, located in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Walter 's subjects are birds and flowers that are rendered with great precision and utilizing watercolors and inks. The results are exquisite, large, colorfully rich drawings and paintings.
